This replica Eames chair has been in a local antique store for about a year now. I think the price is ludicrous for a fake in this shape without the ottoman. It is on sale with the rest of the guy’s booth 20% off but that’s still $700.
I’m thinking about shooting him a low ball offer, but how low, you tell me.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

Depending on the quality, some of the really good reproductions can bring even more. Especially with the ottoman.

I’ve always wanted one of those for my office, they all seem to be around that price too but normally with an ottoman. People seem to know how desirable they are. I would say offer $450 or so.

Well, two points here:
1- see sm70's comment, it’s accurate
2- you can buy more affordable, new replicas online, with ottoman, for $600 to $700 if you keep an eye on them - usually on Amazon.

Your right there are a couple of them right now on Amazon for a lot less than I had thought. About $550 shipped

I was too poor to buy one a few years back. It was around 300 and looked new. I’m still bummed.

I think I’m just going to try and buy the genuine Herman Miller desk chairs from craigslist. They’ve been on for 2 months and I desk more than I lounge. And they’re real Herman Miller.

It’s been my experience that people who over price their stuff a lot, aren’t worth dealing with.

If Dirty Money has taught me anything its that you should offer like $200. Or failing that just make your own.
I have wanted lots of Eames gear for years. Are there any recommended brands of knock offs?

In the past 2 days on r/DIY there was a similar style chair redone. Might wanna check there.

That’s a bit crazy. I was looking at knockoff Barcelona chairs, and they were all around $700 :(

It’s missing several parts, and doesn’t even include the ottoman. It’s a poor quality knock-off as all the hardware is visible. Leave this one to the sucker who thinks it’s the real deal. Check amazon, you can get a brand new Faux Eames for about $500.

We paid a little more for ours, about $1250 and it seems like the real deal showing a bit of age, but tastefully.
My cousins bought one off Amazon for about $650 and it is pretty great as well. They actually returned the first one because the angle of the back was a bit off and wasn’t comfortable but the second they bought is pretty spot on. I’d say go for it.

There’s the lounging-versus-desking question, there’s the cost question, and there’s the fact that the lounge chair will require a bit of space for reclining, swivelling, et cetera.
Regarding the HMs: chairs are a thing of mine and I would probably find the HMs uncomfortable after a while in one of them.

Take $200 of that $700 and get a perfectly fine brand new office chair.
